Deep Water: Joseph P. Macheca and the Birth of the American Mafia has been selected as a semifinalist in the Independent Publisher Book Awards. Competing in the South Region Nonfiction category, Deep Water is one of five category semifinalists. Final award winners will be announced May 23, 2008.This year's Independent Publisher Awards competition drew in 3,100 entries from 49 U.S. states and 17 other countries. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded in each category. The awards presentation is scheduled for May 30 at BookExpo America in Los Angeles.
